Back to New York City

The rest of the trip was spent visiting many of Asako’s high school friends, shopping, and making the rounds visiting family. It’s hard to believe how many things I didn’t have time to do while I was over there. Im back in the US now but I’m looking forward to going back. I barely scratched the surface. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly.
I must have been asked if I had seen Lost In Translation about 20 times on my travels. The real sense of alienation I felt was actually when I arrived in JFK airport and came to the luggage carrousel where a flight from Haiti was being unloaded. There was a lone airport worker standing on the carrousel yelling at everyone to step away from the jammed belt as 20 or 30 people scrambled to pull their bags and wooden trunks off the belt. I felt like I was in slow motion. I’m exhausted but satisfied; time to shift gears… back into the mayhem of NYC.
